In this post I will discuss the beauty of your womb and how she is always speaking messages to you. The important thing for us women however, is to always tune in and listen to her. A way you can discover how she speaks to you is through your energy, emotions, pain and the color of your blood, during your menstrual cycle. You may even notice dark red blood clots.
I will share some habits, tips and reflections on this. I will also share a delicious, medicinal tea that I love to drink to balance the energies in my womb as well as when I have my beautiful moon cycle.
Your body and womb speak to you, so listen carefully
The beautiful thing about the menstrual cycle is that she speaks to us. You can think of her like your direct line of communication, as your messenger. She speaks to you through bringing whatever information is in the unconscious, and bringing it up to your awareness, into the light. Your body is always speaking to you, in whispers, through signals through your body and yes sometimes she does get quite loud if you are not listening.
What I love about the menstrual cycle is that she our womb is always talking to us about different aspects of our life
For example, she will make it known to you if you’re feeling stressed, or if you’re not getting enough rest, if you have any repressed emotions or any aspects of your life that are out of balance. Yes she speaks to you in different ways, but what we must remember as women is that we need to listen.
Your Womb is connected to your emotional body
As you can see, the beauty about the womb is that it is associated with our emotional body. The womb rules creativity, fertility, relationships, and the gut, or that gut feeling you can say. Our food and our emotions are both governed by the same energetic centre. So when you have a healthy gut, you have a healthy womb, therefore, you cultivate healthy, processed emotions.
When your womb and gut are nourished, so are your emotions. However, when they are not in balance, sometimes they are manifested in different ways and the best way you can tell that this is happening is through the color or the way your blood is extracted during your menstrual cycle. Sometimes you may notice dark, red blood clotting.
The dark blood clotting is a sign that something is not in balance. It means that there is a stagnation, stuck energy, or something that has not been brought to your attention over the month or even longer and is still lingering there. This can also be manifested through pain during your menstruation, feelings that you are floating and even confusion around your intuition. But for today, I want to focus mainly on the dark, red blood clots you may see during your menstruation.
Remember, the best way you can see the dark clots are on your pad or even when you capture the blood in a menstrual cup.
Cold and heavy energy
The dark, brown or dark red blood clots can be seen as a heavy or cold energy. Usually what they say in Ayurveda, is that in order to balance this, we must balance it with the opposite. So what is the opposite to cold? Warm.
This is why your bleeding time is vital to understanding not only your gut health, but also the underlying energy of your womb, as your womb is the power house for all of your emotions, yes including the stuck, cold and stagnant energies.
How to balance the energy in your womb
If you find that you have blood clots during your menstrual cycle, it might be a sign that you need to move more in the next month to allow the blood flow to move into your womb space.
Another way to balance the cold energy of the dark, red blood clots is to eat warming foods. Some amazing warming foods are spices like ginger, turmeric and pepper.
Below I have a beautiful tea that you can drink especially during your menstrual cycle. These warming foods that you can add in your diet will increase the digestive fire in your digestive system or your gut, which will not only help you digest your food better but also help with the quality of your menstrual blood.
Which is why rather than eating the same every day or following a strict diet, I believe it is important to understand that we are always changing depending on where we are in our cycles, our body requires different foods. Therefore I suggest you start thinking of your diet as less of “what am I eating”, and more in terms of “what is the energy of the food” that I’m consuming.
How will it complement the energy that I am feeling right now? Does this have a warming energy or a cooling energy? What kind of energy do I want to cultivate to balance the energy I feel?
What is your relationship with food
So I suggest, if you notice these symptoms during your menstrual cycle, to start taking note of how you are experiencing emotions before your period. For example, if you are experiencing rage before your period, or dark blood, this could be a good time to reflect on and ask yourself, “what is the opposite energy in food that I need to eat in order to come back to balance and realign myself back into centre.
This will not only help you to cultivate a different perspective around your emotions and food but also what and how you are balancing your emotions. Remember your menstrual blood is a blessing. It is there to speak messages of your womb.
