It is time to open yourself to other possibilities and stop the wishing or dreaming.
All it takes is that one step to step out of your comfort zone.
To know that anything is possible.
To know that dreams can be reality if you make that shift.
Making a change to something completely different can be really daunting and overwhelming.
There are feelings of “what if this doesn’t work?” “What if I fail?”
Do you know something?
These ‘what ifs’ that somehow subtly creep into your mind are just your ego talking to you. They are doing just that, scaring you or doing whatever they have to do; to make you procrastinate, self-sabotage or the common one we all know… FEAR.
Once you start realising that these are just thoughts coming from constant patterns of beliefs that are habitual, they actually begin to show up less frequently as the mind realises it cannot be fooled anymore. This is the best chance to make changes.
So how do we start showing up in the world and start being more productive?
How do we follow our souls purpose in doing what we love?
It is time to transform your life.
It just takes little baby steps, a shift in the mindset and faith, that if your goals and intentions are coming from your heart, you can do anything.
1. Start from the soul level
Is what you’re doing right now coming from your heart?
It is time you start doing what you love and this means, what exists at your soul level. Your gifts in this world that have been assigned to you specifically, are given to you for a reason, that is, to share.
There is no use to this world in hiding what that is.
If what you are doing is coming from your soul then there is no wrong.
With this in mind, no matter what challenges come your way, you can be assured that you are on the right path to finding your own success.
At times I can get really overwhelmed with social media, the things I need to get done in order to achieve a certain amount of engagements, impressions or link clicks on Pinterest and so on. It is all so relevant I agree, but man… It can get so overwhelming. It is easy to forget why you even started what you were doing in the first place. The system and the way of being successful, just don’t end.
It is important not to get caught up in these linear, one minded ways of making it in this world. Reconnecting with the purpose for why you are showing up, keeps you grounded.
This is the fuel that keeps you going.
2. Take on a growth mindset
Start doing what you love by taking on a growth mindset.
It is about changing the beliefs about what you are capable of and the stories you create about yourself. These thought patterns are so deeply embedded into your subconscious that, you may not even realise these are there. All of this leads to sabotaging, self-doubting and thinking you’re not good enough.
Let me tell you a little story.
After my first year of learning and dancing Samba, I had all these preconceived ideas about my abilities which held me back. I didn’t think I was good enough to even move on to the advanced level. My coach was so adamant that I had to move on. One day, I finally became aware of this little voice inside my mind. I knew I needed to change my story. The moment I shifted this little mindset, the moment that I opened myself to new opportunities. I jumped right into the discomfort zone and joined a choreography team where an exciting challenge awaited.
I just followed my heart and intuition.
I was able to manifest what I really wanted as it was coming from a self-loving place.
Guess what happened when I did this?
I had actually skipped a level and moved right up to dancing with the professional/elite team. It was at this moment that I realised I had removed the ego from my mind. That ego that used to say I wasn’t good enough for something. But how could this be when my passion, my love was set in dancing Samba.
So, now I am here to tell you, before you progress into anything, before you make that move into manifesting what you want, the first step is to shift the mindset.
It is time to change your story and start thinking about how you want to show up in the world.
What you want to be.
Ask yourself: is what I am doing making me happy? If not, what do I need to do to change this?
Shifting your mindset or as they say, taking on a growth mindset is about the journey of relieving yourself from the conditioned ideas about what we believe about ourselves.
3. Realise that fear could be the one holding you back
Fear takes place in many ways and generally is what holds us back in shining in the world. Fear is what could be holding you back from actually doing what you love.
Fear is when we are afraid of making mistakes and the judgements from the outside world. It exists within the idea of not succeeding and that it isn’t going to work out.
So when you find these thoughts arise, bring your awareness to it. By bringing your loving attention to these fears, you are offering them to be there but you are conscious of wanting to let them go.
Then you will be surprised at how easy these fears may arise and just pass by like a cloud in the sky moving above your head.
So take a step back. Realise what it is that is holding you back Honestly, what’s the worst thing that could happen right?
It isn’t about making huge sacrifices or huge steps to get to that place you want to be of course.
Baby steps.
Just take one step at a time. They don’t say “Rome wasn’t built in a day” for nothing.
4. Know that success can only be designed by you
Now, this may shock you a little.
Do you know that (little but oh so powerful) word “success.” This is a word we have been exposed to our whole life but, who has actually designed this concept of success?
If you think about it, it really is just an illusion. We have been manipulated to achieve these “goals, systems or structures” in life that meet this success.
Have we been shaped to follow someone else’s strategy?
What if you change this idea about what success looks like. Because there is no one way of doing something.
There is not just one way of being successful.
There is not just one way of being in this world.
There is no one way to progress.
Only you know what works for you. Strategies, systems and the mind can only take you so far. It is what you do from within. What you do at the soul level that changes everything. Like I said, how you measure success is just part of the illusion.
Because you know what ladies?
The Universal family actually doesn’t give a shit about what you have or how you achieve in this world. It is more interested in how you show up in this world that is true to you, to your flow, your divine timing, your heart. That is honest, pure, sincere, and how williing you are to make a difference in this world.
5. Embrace the dis-comfort
I suppose this one is quite similar to taking on a growth mindset isnt it?
It IS hard to change that mindset. I know.
It is hard to make a change.
It is hard to take that leap, in what can seem like a huge leap.
But you know what? You can do it.
It is much easier to stay in anything we do, regardless if it makes us happy or not because it is familiar, safe and comfortable.
Remember that story I told you about my first time in a choreography. Well I remember the first time I stepped out onto a stage in front of a thousand people. I had been practising for a good three months so I knew I had the skills. I knew I had the will and I had put the hard work in to get to where I was. However, the feeling of putting myself out there to a crowd of people was terrifying.
I had to just take three breaths in, keep my centre and get myself out there on that stage.
That feeling will probably always be with me each time I step out on the stage- where my heart pounds at a hundred miles an hour. However, each time I put myself out there, I shine that little bit more and realise there really isn’t anything to be fearful of.
That word again, fear.
So let me ask you, how many of you are still in that job you can not stand?
Raise your hand.
How many of you, scroll through Instagram admiring those women (lets face it, its usually women), following their dreams as they travel the world?
I mean, why can’t you be that person? It seems out of reach you might say? You don’t have the money, you have your job and your mortgage, I get it. But I didn’t say it was easy. I didn’t say it doesn’t take hard work or persistence. And don’t forget that growth mindset!
When you do get past that beating heart, everything just seems like a breeze after that because you have done the hardest part, and that’s getting out of your comfort zone.
6. Stop comparing yourself
This is an important one for me.
The more you read and start looking at what other people are doing, the more you second guess yourself. This then holds you back from actually getting yourself out there.
You have to remember that there is not one person like you.
There is only one person with your light.
One person with your essence.
One person with your heart.
And that is you.
Everyones journey is different. We are all on our own soul paths in this lifetime. Everyone’s story, past, motivations, inspirations and place in this moment will look completely different to one another.
When we see someone else’s success, generally we aren’t aware of their struggles and their progress they went through to get there. Their success is not an indication of where they are at in their lives ALL THE TIME.
This could be the perfect illusion of wanting or desiring something that doesn’t exist all the time. Our lives are similar to the motions of a roller coaster, including those that are perceived as the most successful. If there are no downs, then there are no learning experiences for us to to grow.
This is why, we need to run our our race.
Furthermore, your purpose for what you bring to the world needs to be from your personal connection to your spirit, the universe, your Divine guidance.
7. Stop second-guessing yourself
Hands up if this you?
Hands up if you self doubt that you end up getting into that “fear” mode, “procrastinate” or “self sabotage.”
I was for such a long time in my past life.
I doubted my ability and what I had to offer. I was seeking validation from others around me. I don’t think I was even really aware of this. More importantly, I realised I wasn’t serving others and myself to my full potential.
We begin to stop second guessing ourselves when we tune into our soul power and really be confident with the wisdom we encompass within.
For so many years women have self doubted themselves. It is so ingrained in us. This conditioning that has been passed through generations has really formed our story about how we show up in the world. As well as, how much we trust what ourselves.
There always seems to be an excuse as to why we don’t feel good enough to really reach for the stars.
So next time you doubt or second guess your knowledge and wisdom, bring your awareness to this. After your acknowledgement, it is time to tell this “inner voice” a different story.
If you find yourself questioning your abilities, tell yourself everything is working out and everything is going to be ok because the soul knows what it is doing.
Say: “My heart and soul is in command now.”
8. Goal setting
We all know goal setting is important.
Set some goals for the week and the month. The key to goal setting however is to not be completely invested in the goals.
Why?
It is the process in between that is the most important.
The growth that occurs as you embark on your journey.
So make the goal as big as you want. It doesn’t even matter if you do not achieve this goal because it is about the growth and process leading up to it.
It is about how you start trusting your soul purpose. How you start trusting your own flow.
So dream big.
What’s standing in your way? When you dream big and set your goals big, you begin to think and act big.
9. Prioritise
Write down each day and week, the tasks that need to be achieved. If you have a long list of things to do, the key is to prioritise only 20% of what really is important.
If you’re anything like me, by writing a long “list of things to do,” I end up overwhelming myself. Then I feel like I have not achieved anything for the day. So I end up feeling depleted.
Instead of feeling depleted or unproductive, change your approach. Instead, choose 3 essential tasks for the day. This will keep things simple for you.
10. Take time to rest
Include rest time as an essential “thing to do” in your priority list.
Your body requires rest.
Your mind requires rest.
Your soul requires rest.
It is not human to be in a fluid rhythm every part of the day. It is time you stop thinking that your body needs to run on fire all day long. Nothing living ever runs on everlasting battery.
In each day, offer yourself that self-love and self-care by really setting that time aside.
Take the time to make yourself some tea, listen to music and just be. This will allow you to place just as much importance on your mind, body and soul as you do in your work. If you are striving towards your soul purpose, your soul requires just as much love and attention as your work does.
Most importantly, stop apologising for taking the time to rest each day. Even if it is only for ten minutes.
When you rest, you gain a fresh perspective about life and your goals. You become better connected to your divine feminine. It is when you tune in to yourself and rest, you will be given clarity and a chance to rejuvenate.
How to reset in 10 minutes?
Light a candle.
Place some soothing music, mantra music or just sit in silence.
Make yourself some tea: chamomile tea is so calming.
Grab a comfy pillow, lay out a yoga mat and sit comfortably. You could even lay in Savasana.
Rub some Lavender essential oil on your temples. This is a beautiful, soothing and calming oil and also soothes any headaches you may have.
Take three deep breaths and just be in the present moment.
If you are feeling inspired after the ten minutes, sit and write in your journal. You will be surprised at what comes up at this time.
Wow!! What an inspiring blog post! I loved reading every bit of it. You share some really great advice. I’m definitely going to try out the lavender oil!
Thankyou Samanatha for your kind words. Yay for the lavender oil! It is the best! I am so grateful that this inspired you and you enjoyed it. I hope to hear how the lavender oil went too!
Love this post! Fear holds me back so much- this was a great reminder to not let ourselves get in the way of doing what we love.
Yes sister! If it something that you love and you feel it is coming from your heart, just go for it and don’t let the mind get in your way! Go get it girl!
Wow this was insightful, thanks for being so vulnerable and sharing these for others. I liked the “don’t compare yourself to others” very timely for me right now. As a new blogger it’s easy to start doing that and lose momentum over everything to change about your website and your posts…..but like you said, it takes a growth mindset and time!!!
Thats right Brittany. It is so easy to get caught up in our mind, right? Especially if we are trying to move forward and reach the stars. It is always baby steps. If you’re anything like me, when I reflect, sometimes I forget how far I have come in just a small amount of time.
Thank you for this Inspirational post; we all need it especially at this time. Yes we are enough and we can reach any goal that we set out mind to!
Love your 10 min reset ideas!
You’re very welcome. I am so happy you love the reset ideas. Just a nice little reminder for us each day.
The soul level and growth mindset are something I’d love to adopt and do more of! I love the idea of making productive changes from within to make valuable strides! This was so insightful.
I am sure you are doing great! And wherever it feels difficult, this is just part of the growth. I am happy to hear this spoke to you on different levels.
This was so sweet and inspirational to read! Thanks for sharing!
And thankyou Sarah for your lovely comment. I am so happy it resonated with you and spoke to you.
Thank you so much for this great blog. I really enjoyed reading it and I’ll be trying the 10 min rest and restore. We tend to forget to sometimes take time for ourselves and re centre with our busy worlds we live in.
Loved it!
Thankyou Lucy. I hope the 10-minute rest becomes a daily practice in your busy schedule. It is a great and simple reminder to just take that time out for ourselves. So happy to hear you loved it!
Wow, what an insightful post. Thanks for sharing some of your own stories too 🙂 I really like the “There is not just one way of being successful” part 🙂
Thankyou Jenny. Great to hear this. This is something we don’t hear very often right. And hope the stories resonated with you 🙂
This is really good! Enjoyed reading it
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thankyou!
